Join Kathryn for a program highlighting the diverse contributions Black American composers have made to the vocal repertoire.
This concert will be live-streamed over Zoom and will include live performances, pre-recorded videos, and interactive conversation about the pieces. Works to include:
Concert Conversation #2 benefits IlluminArts, an exciting, imaginative Miami-based organization that presents multimedia performances that integrate art and music, while also highlighting social justice issues. Donate to IlluminArtsYou can donate in any amount. I recommend you donate what you would normally spend to attend a recital – or more if you can – but truly any amount (from $5 to $500!) will help IlluminArts.
Once you have made a donation to IlluminArts, simply email Kathryn at kathrynmueller@gmail.com and say "I've made a donation to IlluminArts and would like an invitation to The Glory of This Perfect Day."
You will then receive an invitation via email which will contain a Zoom link for the recital. You'll also receive a PDF program several days before the recital.
No and no! We're going by the honor system here. Thank you for your support of IlluminArts, which like all artistic organizations is dealing with unprecedented challenges.
I originaly wanted to do these Concert Conversations 100% live, but the truth is that the sound quality over Zoom is not as good as streamed, pre-recorded audio. I will perform some songs live, play and discuss excerpts of others live, and then for some songs I will play pre-recorded videos so you will get the full effect of the music as intended. There will also be plenty of time for interactive discussion and questions with all of you.
The Glory of This Perfect Day is the second of a series of Concert Conversations, each benefitting a musical organization that means a lot to me. IlluminArts is a small but cutting-edge organization that produces imaginative multimedia presenations of the highest artistic quality. They also engage and inspire audiences by presenting diversity in their programming and performers, something that is very important to me.
I went to one of IlluminArts' first performances when I was in Miami several years ago and have been following their growth ever since. This season IlluminArts is presenting virtual events – check them out while you're on their site to make your donation!
